The Cello

So my friend asked me to alter a musical instrument she gave me, the cello. Local artists were altering instruments for a local school to have at an auction to raise money for their music program. I have no idea what school/program it was for....but I had fun and of course I am always down for a cause!

I'm proud of how it turned out!

New Years Weekend

So I was able to have a long weekend and really enjoyed it!

There was of course NYE fun!

Then NYE rest the next day...

Get together with my wonderful lady friend. We enjoyed chili and I never knew about putting sour cream in it. Delicious!

New year tattoo! Colorful rose, colorful life and lots of luck for the next big year!

Then there was a lovely dinner I cooked. Easy and tasty. Salmon for one.

Then it all ended with a little art making. Which always helps me frame what's going on.

Art Therapy Without Borders Art Exchange

Here is a smattering of my postcards for the ATWB's postcard art exchange. I have already received a couple back! Can't wait to see what comes next. Very excited about this huge project!

I think it would be exciting to do this with traveling art that you add to and mail on. Like a large group community art piece. Maybe something to think about for another project!

Tuna noodle casserole and cucumber dip! Delicious! Maybe cheese in the casserole next tine but I'm feeling proud of where I'm headed with all these cooking adventures!

Christmas tree is up! Its a tiny one this year, but full of just as much love! Can't believe it's been one year since I met that lovely man. A lot has happened in this past year. I look forward to many more!

Fall time

I really feel like I am soaking up my fall experience this year! It is my favorite season and I am using every moment I can to enjoy it. Haunted hayrides, bonfires, apple cider even a pumpkin smelled oil fragrenting my office. I love this season. You can smell the cold creeping in and the extra layering of clothes, I'm so happy for it to be here.

I took these photos today because I was noticing the red leaves emerging on the trees. They are my favorite!

I wanted to share them.

Porch Art

The other morning I was up early. Lately I have been exploring my creativity through cooking. I made eggs with spinach and cheese. I made coffee and grabbed a zucchini muffin I had made last week and went out on the porch to enjoy the sun.

I was so refreshed and inspired that I decided to make some art.

It was amazing and I felt like I wish everyday could start this way!

A different sort of morning...

So I got up early today to get an oil change in my car. I went to the dealership which is out in STL county. The heat broke and the humidity is down so I had my windows open and was really feeling amazing with the cooler air rushing in the car and the wind cooling my face. I felt relaxed. I had an appointment, but I knew that there was no pressure riding on if I was at the oil change place exactly at 9am or not. So I didn't mind when I missed my exit and had to travel quite a ways down the highway until I found another exit to turn around.
I didn't mind because all of a sudden I was where there were no people, there were trees and trees and trees and green. It was this feeling like when you were a kid and had a doctors appointment during the day so you left school early, and you were never out in the rest of society at that time of day and it felt like you were doing something wrong. Like the world didn't exist between the hours of 9-4 because school was the only thing that could possibly be happening for the rest of the world too. (Or maybe I just had that feeling because whenever my mom would take me out of school and we would drive past a cop she would jokingly tell me to hide because I would be in trouble for not being in school. I always believed her.)
So I just stayed in the present. I listened to the sounds, the wind rushing past, the cars zooming by one another, the air. And I looked. I looked more than I look usually. I know that sounds weird, but I mean I payed attention. I got stopped on a bridge and saw the sun cut through the clouds over the water and it was like I had seen it for the very first time.

Typically my day is rush, rush, rush. I am stressed and in 'go' mode the entire day. This morning I allowed myself to just be. Just be. I even stopped to witness the amazing walking stick and it's shadow.

It was a different sort of morning...

I got married!

Flew out to Vegas to get married baby! It was a fabulous time, quite the whirlwind. So now settling into the idea of being someone's wife...exciting!
